Lukas R. A. Wilde (born 1983) is a German media and comics scholar. He studied theatre and media studies, Japanese studies and philosophy at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and Gakugei University in Tokyo, and received his doctorate from Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen in 2017. His dissertation was published as “Im Reich der Figuren” and examines the “mangafication” of public spaces and the transmedia figure “kyara” in functional communication. In 2018, the work received the Roland Faelske Award for the best dissertation in comics and animation studies. His research has focused on comics and manga theory, webcomics, digitization, intermediality and media theory.
