Lukas Kummer

Lukas Kummer was born in Innsbruck in 1988. In 2007, he moved to Kassel, where he studied illustration and comics at the Kunsthochschule and graduated in 2014. He then spent a year as a master student under Hendrik Dorgathen. Kummer worked as an illustrator, comic artist, author, storyboard artist and designer; his work appeared in magazines, fanzines and anthologies. His graphic novels include Die Verwerfung (2015) and Die Gotteskrieger (2017). For Residenz Verlag, he adapted autobiographical texts by Thomas Bernhard as graphic novels: Die Ursache (2018), Der Keller (2019), Der Atem (2021), Die Kälte (2023) and Ein Kind (2024). Die Ursache was included on the 2018 Comic Bestenliste.
