Luisa Famos (1930–1974) was born in Ramosch in the Lower Engadine and trained as a primary-school teacher. She taught in Graubünden and the canton of Zurich and hosted the first Romansh-language television programme on Swiss television. Together with her husband and their two children, she spent extended periods in Venezuela and Honduras. Her two poetry collections were translated into German, French and Italian. Poems from her literary estate, with German translations, were published in 2004.
