Lena Lagushonkova

Lena Lagushonkova (born 1984 in Stanytsia Luhanska, Ukraine) is a Ukrainian playwright and author. She studied history and social work at Luhansk National University and made her playwriting debut in 2018 with BAZA. Her plays have been staged in Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv and Odesa, as well as at festivals including Drama UA. In 2023, her Donbas Trilogy premiered at TR Warszawa. Lagushonkova co-founded the Theatre of Playwrights in Kyiv and the Lovers and Beavers festival. Her first novel, The Cat Has Shat on My Flag, was named a BBC Book of the Year 2025, received the Vybir Chytomo 2025 award and was selected by PEN Ukraine as one of the best Ukrainian books of 2025.
