Laurent Petitmangin was born in Lorraine in 1965 and comes from a railway-worker family. He worked for Air France. His debut novel, »Ce qu’il faut de nuit« (German: »Was es braucht in der Nacht«), brought him international recognition. The widely acclaimed novel received several awards, including the student-voted Prix Femina des lycéens, and has been translated into a dozen languages and adapted for film.
