Lars Harmsen

Lars Harmsen studied visual communication in Basel and Pforzheim and founded the design agency MAGMA in Karlsruhe while still a student. In 2011, he became a professor of concept, layout, and typography at the University of Dortmund. In 2014, he joined Melville Brand Design as a partner and creative director. Harmsen also founded the type foundry Volcano-Type and co-edited the typography and design magazine Slanted with Julia Kahl. His projects included 100for10 and Posterrex. His work in typography, corporate design, and editorial design received awards nationally and internationally.
