Larry Brown

Larry Brown (1951–2004) was an American writer from Oxford, Mississippi. Before establishing himself as an author, he worked as a firefighter. After several unsuccessful attempts to find a publisher, his first short-story collection, *Facing the Music*, was published in 1988. His work includes further short stories and five novels, including *Fay*, the first of his novels to be translated into German, in 2017. Brown received several awards and died of a heart attack in November 2004.
