Kristina Gorcheva-Newberry

Kristina Gorcheva-Newberry grew up in Moscow and studied at the State Linguistic University. She subsequently worked as a teacher and interpreter before emigrating to the United States in 1995, where she studied English and creative writing. Her short stories have received several awards, including the Katherine Anne Porter Prize for Fiction. Her debut novel, Das Leben vor uns, was named one of the best books of 2022 by the New York Post and was shortlisted for the Chautauqua Prize in 2023.
