Koleka Putuma, born in 1993 in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, is a South African playwright and spoken-word artist. Her poetry debut, “Collective Amnesia,” brought her widespread attention and was named City Press Book of the Year in 2017. Putuma received the PEN South Africa Student Writing Prize in 2016 and the Rising Star Award at the Mbokodo Awards in 2017. In 2018, Forbes included her on its list of 30 promising African creatives under 30.
