Knister

Knister, a German children's author, was born in Bottrop in 1952. He studied social pedagogy at the University of Essen and rhythmics at the Folkwang School in Essen. He subsequently worked as a musician and composer for radio and television and contributed to children's theatre productions. He later wrote children's books, radio plays, screenplays and theatre pieces. Among his best-known works is the children's book series featuring the character Hexe Lilli, which was also adapted as an animated television series, a stage production and a film. Before working primarily as an author and composer, he wrote songs for use in his own school classes.
