Karl R. Popper

Karl R. Popper (1902–1994) was born in Vienna and died near London. Until 1945 he taught at the University of New Zealand; he then served as a reader and, from 1949 to 1969, as Professor of Logic and Scientific Method at the London School of Economics. Queen Elizabeth II knighted him in 1965. His works available in German include “The Self and Its Brain” (co-written with John C. Eccles), “In Search of a Better World,” “All Life Is Problem Solving,” and “The World of Parmenides,” a study of the origins of European thought.
