Karin Boye (1900–1941) was a Swedish writer, poet, and translator. She studied in Uppsala and made her literary debut in 1922 with the poetry collection *Clouds* (*Moln*). In 1931, together with Erik Mesterton and Josef Riwkin, she founded the literary magazine *Spektrum*, helping introduce T. S. Eliot and surrealism to Swedish readers. Her major works include the novels *Crisis* (*Kris*) and *Kallocain*, as well as the poetry collections *The Hearths* (*Härdarna*) and *For the Tree’s Sake* (*För trädets skull*). *Kallocain*, her best-known novel, depicts a dystopian society. Boye died near Alingsås in 1941.
