Juri Felsen was the pseudonym of the writer Nikolai Freudenstein. Born in St. Petersburg in 1894, he emigrated to Europe in 1921 and settled in Paris in 1923. He worked as a writer in France and was influenced by authors including Marcel Proust, James Joyce, and Virginia Woolf. After the German occupation of France, he was arrested while attempting to flee to Switzerland and interned at the Drancy camp. In 1943, Juri Felsen was deported to Auschwitz, where he was murdered.
