Julia Willmann

Julia Willmann, born in 1973 in Freiburg im Breisgau, studied Romance languages and literature, German studies and media studies in Aix-en-Provence and Düsseldorf, followed by directing at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin. She worked as an assistant director, editor, feature-film editor, creative producer and dramaturge in the film industry. Her literary texts appeared in anthologies and literary journals from 2003 onward. In 2017, she published her debut novel, “was es ist.” Willmann wrote for both children and adults. Her children’s novel “Ganz oben fliegt Lili” received the Mannheimer Feuergriffel and Korbinian Paul Maar awards; “Rascha und die Tür zum Himmel” was nominated for the Korbinian Paul Maar Award. In 2010, she received a scholarship from the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg.
