Josef H. Reichholf, born in Lower Bavaria in 1945, is an evolutionary biologist and nonfiction author. He taught at Munich’s universities, served as a professor of ecology and conservation at the Technical University of Munich, and headed the vertebrate department at the Zoological State Collection Munich until April 2010. His work in science and science communication has received several awards, including the Treviranus Medal, the Grüter Prize for Science Communication, and the Sigmund Freud Prize for Scientific Prose in 2007. His book “Rabenschwarze Intelligenz” was named “Science Book of the Year” in 2010. His other works include “Evolution,” “Symbiosen,” “Haustiere,” “Schmetterlinge,” “Das Leben der Eichhörnchen,” and “Der Hund und sein Mensch”.
