Joni Mitchell

Joni Mitchell, born Roberta Joan Anderson in 1943 in Fort Macleod, Alberta, is a Canadian singer, songwriter, musician and painter. She wrote poetry and painted from an early age, and taught herself to play guitar. She began studying art with the aim of becoming a painter but left her studies after becoming pregnant and turned increasingly to music. Her debut album, “Joni Mitchell / Song to a Seagull,” was released in 1968. Over the course of her career, she released numerous studio albums and worked across a range of musical genres. In 2002, she received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
