John Maynard Keynes (1883–1946) was a British economist and is regarded as one of the most significant economists of the 20th century. He became internationally known in 1920 for his criticism of the Treaty of Versailles. Through his writings on inflation and monetary policy, he had a lasting influence on economic debate; the school of thought known as Keynesianism significantly shaped economic policy.
