John Brunner (1934–1995) was a British writer. Born in Preston Crowmarsh, Oxfordshire, he studied modern languages and sold his first novel at the age of 17. During the 1960s, he was among the early authors to address environmental destruction, misuse of data, and the exploitation of developing countries. Alongside his writing, he was active in the British anti-nuclear movement. Brunner died in Glasgow in 1995.
