Johannes Kopp

Johannes Kopp SAC (1927–2016) was a Pallottine priest and Christian Zen teacher. He was ordained in 1963 and belonged to the first generation of Christian Zen teachers associated with the Japan missionary Hugo Enomiya-Lassalle. In 1985, he received teaching authorization in Kamakura from Yamada Kōun Rōshi; in 2006, the appointment was confirmed by Yamada Ryōun Rōshi, then head of Sanbō-Zen. In 1973, Kopp founded the “Leben aus der Mitte” program for Zen contemplation in the Diocese of Essen.
