Jodi Magness

Jodi Magness is an archaeologist specializing in biblical archaeology. She taught at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and directed excavations at Masada in 1995. She also participated in excavations at Qumran. Her award-winning publications include “The Archaeology of Qumran and the Dead Sea Scrolls,” which received the Biblical Archaeology Society’s Award for Best Popular Book in Archaeology in 2003 and was named an “Outstanding Academic Book for 2003” by Choice magazine, and “The Archaeology of the Early Islamic Settlement in Palestine,” which received the Irene Levi-Sala Book Prize in 2006.
