Jin Yong

Jin Yong (1924–2018), whose given name was Louis Cha, was a Chinese writer, translator, and newspaper editor. Born in Haining, he briefly studied at the Central Political School in Chongqing before beginning his career in translation and journalism. He published his first novel in 1955. His best-known work, The Legend of the Condor Heroes, is regarded as a landmark of Chinese wuxia literature and has been adapted for film and television and translated into numerous languages. For his lifetime achievements, Jin Yong received, among other honors, British and French distinctions.
