Jerome D. Salinger

Jerome David Salinger (1919–2010) was an American writer. He was born in New York and died in Cornish, New Hampshire. During the Second World War, he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in France, among other places. He is best known for his 1951 novel “The Catcher in the Rye.” Salinger also published numerous short stories, including in The New Yorker. After 1965, he published no further works and largely withdrew from public life.
