Jens Soentgen

Jens Soentgen, born in 1967 in Bensberg, studied chemistry, politics and philosophy at Goethe University Frankfurt and earned a doctorate in philosophy from Technische Universität Darmstadt with a thesis on the concept of matter. In 2002, he took on the scientific direction of the Environmental Science Center at the University of Augsburg; in 2016, he became an adjunct professor of philosophy at Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John’s. Soentgen has published scholarly and popular science books and co-edits the »Stoffgeschichten« series with Armin Reller. »Selbstdenken!« and »Von den Sternen bis zum Tau« were nominated for the German Children’s and Young Adult Literature Prize. In 2016, he and Vitali Konstantinov received the »Science Book of the Year« award from the magazine Bild der Wissenschaft for »Wie man mit dem Feuer philosophiert«.
