Jens Malte Fischer

Jens Malte Fischer (born 1943) studied German literature, musicology, history and singing. From 1982 to 1989, he was Professor of Modern German, Comparative and General Literary Studies at the University of Siegen, and subsequently Professor of Theatre Studies at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, where he became emeritus in 2009. His publications include “Gustav Mahler: Der fremde Vertraute,” “Vom Wunderwerk der Oper” and “Richard Wagner und seine Wirkung.” His 2020 biography “Karl Kraus. Der Widersprecher” received the Bavarian Book Prize.
