Jenna Gesse worked as a freelance designer and author in Berlin and taught typography and book design. Her independent work explored visual poetry as well as structure, breaks, atmosphere, and precision. Her debut work, »Leerzeichen für Applaus«, was published by Niggli Verlag and was named one of the »Most Beautiful Books from All Over the World«. For Hermann Schmidt Verlag, she designed »Icon Poet« and translated »Sagmeister&Walsh: Beauty« into German. Gesse served on the juries of the »Most Beautiful German Books«, »Most Beautiful Czech Books«, and »Greek Young Book Design Award« competitions in Athens. Her work received awards from institutions including the Stiftung Buchkunst, the Type Directors Club, the Art Directors Club, the Deutscher Designer Club, and the reddot institute.
