Jehuda Bacon

Jehuda Bacon (born 1929 in Mährisch-Ostrau, now Ostrava, Czech Republic) is an Israeli artist and Holocaust survivor. In 1942, he and his family were deported to Theresienstadt and, in 1943, to Auschwitz-Birkenau. He survived several death marches and was liberated at Gunskirchen on 5 May 1945. In 1946, he emigrated to Palestine and pursued a career as an artist. In 2013, he received the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his contribution to German-Israeli reconciliation and Jewish-German dialogue.
