Jean van Hamme (born 1939) is a Belgian comic-book writer and scenarist. He wrote his first comics scenario in 1968 for the erotic album “Epoxy,” drawn by Paul Cuvelier. His best-known works include the fantasy series “Thorgal” and the epic “The Great Power of the Chninkel,” both created with Grzegorz Rosinski, as well as the spy thriller “XIII,” which he developed with William Vance from 1983 onward. He also wrote stories for “Largo Winch” with Philippe Francq and helped revive the classic series “Blake and Mortimer” with artist Ted Benoît.
