Jean-Luc Nancy (born 1940 near Bordeaux) was a French philosopher associated with deconstruction. In his numerous writings, he focused particularly on German philosophy and literature. His work was influenced, among others, by Martin Heidegger, Georges Bataille, and Jacques Derrida. Together with Philippe Lacoue-Labarthe, Nancy taught at the University of Marc Bloch in Strasbourg.
