Jayne Ann Igel

Jayne-Ann Igel, born in Leipzig in 1954, is a German writer. She trained in scientific librarianship and worked at the German Library in Leipzig and in the book trade. After studying theology, she worked in healthcare. From the mid-1980s onward, she published in journals and anthologies; from 1988, she worked as a freelance writer. From the 1990s, she was also active as an editor and publisher. Her books include *Das Geschlecht der Häuser gebar mir fremde Orte*, *Fahrwasser*, *Traumwache*, *Umtriebe* and *Die Stadt hielt ihre Flüsse im Verborgenen*. In the 1980s, she produced several graphic poetry portfolios through self-publishing and participated in samizdat magazine projects. Igel received several grants and, in 2007, the Dr. Manfred Jahrmarkt Honorary Gift from the German Schiller Foundation 1859.
