Jason Lutes was born in New Jersey, USA, in 1967 and studied design. He made his debut in 1993 in a Seattle city magazine with the melancholic graphic novel “Narren,” which received an award. In the mid-1990s, he followed it with the suburban thriller “Herbstfall,” created in collaboration with Ed Brubaker. In 1996, Lutes began work on “Berlin,” a historical graphic novel planned as a three-volume work. He also wrote the biographical comic “Houdini – Der König der Handschellen,” illustrated by Nick Bertozzi and published in 2007.
