Jan Terlouw

Jan Terlouw (born 1931) is a Dutch physicist, politician and author. After studying natural sciences and completing his doctorate, he worked mainly in plasma physics. He began his political career in 1967 and served, among other roles, as a municipal councillor in Utrecht, a member of parliament and parliamentary group leader of his party. From 1983 to 1991, he was secretary-general of the European Conference of Ministers of Transport. Alongside his political and scientific work, he wrote children’s and young adult books, some of which received the Dutch Golden Griffel youth literature award. Terlouw is the father of four children.
