Jan Knopf

Jan Knopf, born in Arnstadt in 1944, was a literary scholar and professor. He taught literary studies from 1984 and headed the Bertolt Brecht research center at the University of Karlsruhe from 1989. He published more than 30 books and numerous articles, including works on Bertolt Brecht, Friedrich Dürrenmatt, and Johann Peter Hebel. Knopf was co-editor of the Great Annotated Berlin and Frankfurt Edition of Brecht’s works, published in 30 volumes, and editor of the five-volume Brecht Handbook.
