Jamie Dau is an anthropologist. He studied in Mainz, Heidelberg, Toulouse and Vienna, and worked as an assistant at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg and the Anthropological University Collection in Vienna. From 2020 to the end of 2023, he worked as a provenance researcher focusing on colonial contexts at MARKK – Museum am Rothenbaum, Kulturen und Künste der Welt in Hamburg. There, he researched colonial global trade and early collections from West Africa and Oceania, and contributed to the exhibitions “Benin. Geraubte Geschichte” and “Lose Enden. Flechtkunst. Marshall Islands. Koloniales Erbe”. In early 2024, he moved to the Reiss-Engelhorn-Museen in Mannheim as a research associate for provenance and archives.
