Carsten Brosda (born 1974) studied journalism and political science and received his doctorate for a thesis on “discursive journalism.” Among other roles, he headed the communications department of the executive committee of Germany’s Social Democratic Party (SPD). In Hamburg, he first served as head of the Media Office and, from 2016, as State Councillor for Culture, Media and Digital Affairs. He was appointed Senator for Culture and Media in February 2017.
