James Low

James Low studied social anthropology and went to India in the late 1960s. At Visva-Bharati University in Shantiniketan, he studied the Tibetan language, Buddhist philosophy, and Buddhist practice. He became a student of the Tibetan Tantra and Dzogchen master Chimed Rigdzin Rinpoche and translated numerous practice texts with him. Low later worked in London, first as a translator and Tibetan teacher, before turning to psychotherapy. He trained in psychoanalysis, Gestalt, art, and sex therapy, and worked in a public hospital, private practice, and as a trainer and supervisor. From 1980 onward, he gave Dharma lectures and Dzogchen seminars in Europe. His publications include *Aus dem Handgepäck eines tibetischen Yogi*, a translation and commentary on source texts of the Dzogchen tradition.
