James Hamilton-Paterson

Born in London in 1941, James Hamilton-Paterson is an author, journalist, poet and nonfiction writer. His versatile body of work includes novels, nonfiction and children’s books, poetry, travel writing and autobiographical works. His journalism appeared in numerous English newspapers and in the German-language magazines Das Magazin, mare and Die Weltwoche. He received the Whitbread First Novel Award for his novel Gerontius. His nonfiction has addressed subjects including the sea, classical music and aviation; one of his best-known works is Empire of the Clouds, published in German as Wie ein Meteor.
