Jakob M Lenz

Jakob Michael Reinhold Lenz (1751–1792) was a German-Baltic writer and a representative of the Sturm und Drang movement. He studied theology in Königsberg, where he attended lectures by Immanuel Kant, but abandoned his studies and turned to literature. From 1774, he worked as a freelance writer. His best-known plays include *The Tutor* (*Der Hofmeister*) and *The Soldiers* (*Die Soldaten*). Lenz died in Moscow in 1792.
