Jack Smith

Jack Smith was an American pioneer of underground film and performance art. He became particularly known for his groundbreaking film *Flaming Creatures* (1962/63), whose sexually charged depictions of drag and stylized gender performances made it a much-discussed work of the international avant-garde of the 1960s and 1970s.
