Jack Ketchum

Jack Ketchum (1946–2018), born Dallas Mayr, was an American writer. Under his pseudonym, he published horror novels and thrillers from the early 1980s onward. Before becoming a writer, he worked variously as a teacher, actor, literary agent, lumber salesman and beverage salesman. His first publication, *Off Season* (German: *Beutezeit*), was initially controversially criticized as pornography. Ketchum was named Grand Master of the World Horror Convention in 2011 and received five Bram Stoker Awards, as well as the Horror Writers Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015.
