J. D. Salinger

J. D. Salinger (Jerome David Salinger) was born in New York in 1919. Between 1934 and 1936, he worked as a film critic and edited the cadet magazine “Crossed Sabres.” In 1940, he published his first short story, “The Young Folks.” He achieved worldwide fame with his 1951 novel “The Catcher in the Rye,” regarded as his best-known work. Salinger also published three other books of short stories. He died in Cornish, New Hampshire, in 2010.
