Isaac Asimov (1920–1992) was a Russian-American biochemist, professor, and writer. Born in Russia, he moved to the United States with his family in 1923. Alongside his scientific career, he wrote numerous science-fiction novels and stories, including the Foundation series and his Robot stories. In the latter, he formulated the Three Laws of Robotics, which became a defining element of science fiction. Asimov also wrote extensively on popular science and published nonfiction on a wide range of subjects.
