Irmengard Gabler studied English and Romance studies in Eichstätt and London. She subsequently worked for several years as a research assistant at the Chair of Romance Literary Studies at the University of Eichstätt. In 1993, she began translating fiction and nonfiction from English, French, and Italian. Authors whose works she has translated include Cristina Campo, Serena Vitale, Philippe Blasband, Christopher J. Sansom, John Dickie, and Adam Higginbotham.
