Ippolito Nievo

Ippolito Nievo (1831–1861) was an Italian writer and novelist of the 19th century. He is best known for his novel *Confessions of an Italian*. Nievo took part in the Italian struggle for independence alongside Giuseppe Garibaldi. He died in a shipwreck after the liberation of Sicily.
