Ian Rankin

Ian Rankin (born 1960 in Scotland) is a Scottish crime writer. He is best known internationally for his novels featuring Detective Inspector John Rebus, who first appeared in 1987. Rankin’s work has received numerous awards, including the Gold Dagger, the Edgar Allan Poe Award, the German Crime Prize, the British Book Award and the Diamond Dagger. He was appointed to the Order of the British Empire for his services to literature.
