Ian Culbard

Ian Culbard is of English and Polish descent. He studied classical drawing techniques, including oil painting and charcoal, and worked as an animation director on advertising films, television projects and short films. In 2006, one of his works was published in the Dark Horse anthology „New Recruits“; he later contributed to „Dark Horse Presents“, „Judge Dredd Magazine“ and „2000 AD“. In collaboration with writer Ian Edginton, Culbard adapted Oscar Wilde’s „The Picture of Dorian Gray“ and Arthur Conan Doyle’s four Sherlock Holmes novels as graphic novels. In 2011, he received the British Fantasy Award for Best Comic/Graphic Novel for his adaptation of H. P. Lovecraft’s „At the Mountains of Madness“.
