Born in Cardiff in 1943, Iain Sinclair is a British writer and filmmaker. His early publications, chiefly poetry, appeared in the 1960s and 1970s and were associated with the British avant-garde. He first attracted wider attention with his novel “Downriver” (1991), which received the James Tait Black Memorial Prize that year and the Encore Award in 1992. London is a central subject of his literary and film work. In “London Orbital” (2002), he described a complete circuit of the metropolis along its motorway ring. Sinclair is regarded as an important representative of psychogeography.
