HR Giger

HR Giger (1940–2014) was a Swiss painter, sculptor, and set designer. He first gained recognition in the 1960s for airbrush depictions of post-apocalyptic creatures and landscapes. He became internationally known chiefly for his film work, most notably for creating the design of the alien in the film *Alien*. The film received the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.
