Hiroko Oyamada

Hiroko Oyamada, born in Hiroshima, Japan, in 1983, is a Japanese writer. She studied Japanese language and literature and subsequently worked in a variety of jobs, including as a temporary employee at an automobile manufacturer. This experience inspired her debut novel Kōjō (The Factory), which received the Shinchō Prize for New Writers and the Oda Sakunosuke Prize. Her second novel, Ana (The Hole), won the Akutagawa Prize. Oyamada’s works have been translated into several languages.
