Hesiod

Hesiod was a Greek poet who probably lived in Ascra in Boeotia around 700 BCE. He worked as a farmer and herdsman and is regarded as the first Greek poet known by name. His most important works include the “Theogony” and the didactic poem “Works and Days.” Alongside Homer’s epics, his writings are among the most important sources on Greek mythology and everyday life in his period.
