Hermien Stellmacher

Hermien Stellmacher, born in 1959 in Leiden, the Netherlands, grew up in Amsterdam. She moved to Germany at the age of 15 and studied graphic design and illustration techniques at the College of Graphic Design in Würzburg. After working at an advertising agency, she became a freelance graphic designer. From the mid-1990s onward, she wrote and illustrated numerous books for children and young people. Her best-known works include the series about Moritz Moppelpo, a rabbit. Her first picture book was published in 1995. From 2012 onward, she focused her writing mainly on books for adults.
